Emily had been practicing the last few months with her class and all the other first grade classes on their spring program. At home she would sing some of the songs she was learning and Anne would sing along too. The program started about 10am and I knew that there would be a lot of parents there so I got Samuel and Caroline ready and set off a half an hour early to the school. Luckily for us the school is right behind our house. When we arrived, there were already some parents there. I got a seat in the second row hoping that nobody tall would sat in front of me. I brought along our trusty digital camera so I could take many shots in the hope of getting at least a few good pictures of Emily.
The kids came in, one row at a time, and for their first song they sang "Growing up is a Big Job" I tried to get a good shot of Emily but she was always looking at the other kids and not at me or anyone else in the audience. I got her attention once or twice but she was too quick to turn her head away to get a good shot. I think she is a little shy when she is before a crowd, but at least she sang the songs and knew the actions. The kids really did a good job considering that some of them had to come back to school because they were off track.
Emily came up to me at the end and gave me a big hug and I told her she did great. She then bounded off back to class. |
